Kids whine much less when they have something to entertain them, right? The Tweeting Galah book series, by Kim Maslin, is the fun and interactive way kids all around Australia are learning about life in a digital world. Join Gabbo, the cheeky galah, and all his furry (and feathery!) friends as they navigate their way through the internet, social media and online gaming. Vibrant illustrations and augmented reality elements bring the characters to life and revolutionise children's reading for the 21st century.
The Tweeting Galah Complete Pack includes: one copy of The Tweeting Galah, one copy of The Surfing Penguin, one copy of The Little Possum who Looked Up, and one pack of Augmented Reality Character Selfie Cards.
Each book includes four short stories, followed by activities and games. The Augmented Reality Character Selfie Cards use interactive face tracking technology to transform you into the different animals from the books. Simply scan the code on the card with your smart device to get started. Take photos and videos as a galah, penguin, platypus and more to share with your friends and family! Are you flirty and romantic just like a Rosé? Or a little more sophisticated like a fine Shiraz? Take our wine quiz to find out what wine matches your personality. Be sure to let me know your result in the comments and whether or not it's correct!
Valentine's Day is almost upon us. The day where those who are coupled find out just how much their other half love's them based on the price tag on the gift they are given, and those who are single have to show themselves some love - no not like that, as in buy themselves a gift. I jokingly asked my husband what he will be getting me for Valentine's Day, he thought he was being hilarious by just sitting there smiling and pointing to himself with both hands. I was not amused. Ok, maybe I chuckled a little, but no buddy - I need a retail gift this year. I've done a little window shopping and compiled a list of things I would love to receive on February 14th. Hopefully he reads this blog post, like a good husband should, and takes the hint. Although, come to think of it, if he does read this, it's not really a hint because it's fully spelled out for him. Oh well hubby, get your credit card ready …….
One of the main things I have to whine about in my life is money - or lack thereof. No matter how much comes in, well actually it's not much, but it always seems to fly back out the door in the blink of an eye. Grocery bills, mortgage, utilities, rates, school fees/supplies, clothing, petrol, insurance and I haven't even had a wine yet. I stressed a lot less about money before having kids. Maybe because there were less outgoings or maybe because as a parent, you want to be confident you will always be able to make ends meet and provide basic needs plus a little more for your children.
The summer school holidays seem to be the hardest time for us financially, as is the case for many other families. Any extra money we have put aside throughout the year is spent on Christmas gifts and then we have the kids home for six weeks - and they wanna do stuff. That "stuff" always seems to cost a packet. I know there are plenty of activities to do that are either free or low cost - go to the beach, the park, play with the new toys Santa brought etc, but it's also nice to be able to splurge on a couple of activities as well. So what does one do when there's nothing in the 'splurge' budget?
Tech toys that teach while children are having fun are the perfect combo for parents who want more from their Christmas shopping. Rather than losing interest or breaking it in the first week, LeapFrog toys are designed to stand the test of time, keeping children intrigued and entertained for years, not just days.
Recognising how children like to play, LeapFrog combines fun with clever, in age-appropriate toys for children at every age and stage, from babies to primary schoolers.
With stacks of options to choose from, LeapFrog has something that will put smiles on your children’s faces on Christmas morning.
Did you know that, on average, women retire with less superannuation than men? I know, I booed as well. If you weren't already aware of that fact, it may not come as a surprise to you considering the gender pay gap and all - boo again. We also tend to live longer than men so we actually require more funds to get us through our retirement years. There is some good new coming though, I promise. I can't close the gender pay gap - I really wish I could, but I can tell you about Super Rewards.
I know we are still in October but Christmas is a mere few weeks away and December is going roll around faster that you can say 'pass the wine'. I love Christmas but what I don't love is all the stress that comes along with it - empty bank accounts, crowded shopping centres and don't even get me started on the family feuds! But, all that aside, there are still things for us grown ups to get excited about when it comes to the festive season and topping that list are the Adult Advent Calendars. You know the ones I'm talking about - the ones that let you count down the days to Christmas with booze. Here are some of the best ones I've come across, do yourself a favour and treat yourself. You won't regret it - unless of course you drink them all on December 1st.
A few months back I posted my 'Wine vs Whine List'. It was basically a list of all the wines I love, which I could totally add to now, along with all the things I do not love. At the top of my 'Whine List' was (and still is) cooking. I probably should amend it to dinnertime in general. I use to love dinnertime. I love food - I just don't like cooking it and I really hate feeding my kids. And I don't mean that in a 'call the authorities, this woman wants to see her kids starve' kinda way, I mean it's not an enjoyable experience. They are the fussiest eaters on the face of the planet. Tiny Whiny #1, she's not so bad. She will eat most things, nothing green though, no spaghetti and don't even get me started on her dislike of carrots - she quite happily foregoes dessert just so that she can avoid eating a single slice of carrot. Like, seriously? Just eat the damn carrot! Tiny Whiny #2 is basically the exact opposite. Likes almost zero proper meal foods except spaghetti and could eat carrots all day long. Perfect!
Earlier this week I posted about it being Wine After Whine's 1st Blogiversary. I also promised that later in the week we would do a giveaway to celebrate. Well, sip sip hooray, it's later in the week! To thank you all for being here and sticking around for the past year, I have a Dan Murphy's Egift Card to give away - so you can choose whatever wine (or other boozy treat) that takes your fancy!
Today marks one year since I started this blog and published the very first post. Happy blogiversary to me! So, given that I love cocktails and prosecco - they are what I drink when I'm celebrating, I thought I'd pop together a collection of prosecco cocktail recipes that you can make in minutes, and probably drink within minutes too!
Half fill a champagne flute with chilled prosecco, top with chilled orange juice.
It doesn't get much simpler than that, cheers!
Add 15mls of Crème de Cassis to a champagne flute, top with chilled prosecco.
Optional: Garnish with a slice of lime. Enjoy!
Wining and whining my way through life.
