It's less than 2 weeks until my birthday and besides spending time celebrating with family and having legit excuse to enjoy a few too many wines, one the things I look forward to is scoring some awesome freebies from my favourite food places. Yep, I spend the day treating myself to tasty treats and it's all free.
As you may have guessed, this one is for the 'whine' files. I'm sure that everyone out there knows about $1/Litre milk. And if you shop at Woolies, you must be aware that they have raised the price of the $1/Litre milk by 10c? I'm assuming all Woolies shoppers know this because they printed enough posters and plastered them over every inch of spare wall space possible to make sure consumers know how 'awesome' they are for helping the poor dairy farmers out ** insert eye rolls here **. You would have to be doing your shopping with your eyes closed not to have seen them, clearly the Woolworths marketing department is not short of a dollar unlike our farmers.
What I really don't understand is why Woolworths is getting a big pat on the back from people who think they are being so charitable to the farmers? And, why they thought it was ok to force the dairy farmers to sell milk for less than what it costs them to produce in the first place?
Fine wine and drinks merchant Magnum + Queens Wine offer a range of carefully-selected, quality wines from all over the globe, with a focus on small, sustainable, craft producers and in March, the Magnum + Queens Wine subscription pack will be Ladies of the Vine, celebrating leading female winemakers in line with International Women’s Day on 8 March.
A blog post a friend had recently shared on social media caught my attention and gave me a bit of a laugh. Ok, that's an understatement. It was piss-your-pants funny. It was a post about funny kids drawings that have innocently gone wrong. If you're up for a giggle you can view the post here. Go to the bathroom first.
Anyway, it got me thinking about a recent artwork Miss P (aka Tiny Whiny #1) recently produced. She is a mad Beanie Boo collector and likes to do their portraits every now and again. On this particular occasion, she decided to draw 'Princess' a pink poodle.
This is what I thought was the finished product, but then Miss P decided Princess was missing something. Ok, like a bow? Some accessories maybe? Nope!
Just like we all enjoy a good wine, we all enjoy a good laugh too, right? Memes are great for that and there are some awesome ones circulating the net. Here are a few of my faves.
The Summer holidays are almost over and it's nearly time to get back into the school routine. My two are entering years 4 & 2 this year, how on Earth did that happen? It really did not seem that long ago that my eldest was just starting kindergarten.
If you're also a parent of primary aged kiddies, you may have found the odd note or two in your young ones school bag warning about headlice. I keep my son's hair fairly short so although I have no wishes for him to get lice, I figured if he did - we'd be able to manage. My daughter on the other hand has curly hair and ever since she had started day care (now about to begin year 4) I had been petrified of her ever contracting head lice. She managed to make it through 3 years of day care and 2 and a bit years of primary school with no problems. Then, just before her year 2 school photos I took her to get a hair cut.
Just before Christmas I had entered a few giveaways in hopes to win some tickets to the Hunter Valley Gardens Christmas Lights Spectacular. You see, I had tried to take the kids a couple of times before back in 2016 & 2017. We made the 45 minute journey both years only to arrive and, while stopped for dinner, discover that they had been cancelled due to storms that were brewing - yep, both times. So you can imagine how excited I was to win tickets this year and not only did I win a family pass to the gardens to see the lights, but also an overnight stay at Harrigan's Irish Pub, which is right next door. I was a little nervous about locking in a date, given our previous run ins with the weather but luckily all the stars aligned and we finally got to go - not a storm in sight.
For those not familiar with the area, the Hunter Valley Gardens are located in the heart of Hunter Valley Wine Country (about 45 mins from Newcastle, where we are from). This trip was just me and the kids though so no wine tours or wine tastings this visit *** insert whines here ***
Christmas has now passed but if you're like most people, you may have noticed a hole in your bank account comparable to the size of the Grand Canyon. When I look at my post Christmas bank balance, I do a little more than just whine - it's more like a full blown adult tanty. With 6 weeks of school holidays I pray that the Christmas gifts that I'd purchased for the Tiny Whinies are enough to entertain them until school goes back as there's little left over for costly school holiday activities. However, there are a few things you can do to put some dollars back in your pocket and help ease financial stress in the new year.
Happy New Year wine lovers! What better way to start 2019 than with a giveaway? As you may have noticed I have started a small (very small at the moment) online store on the page. I'm so very excited to introduce you to the very first product. I obviously love wine and I love anything glittery and if any of you out there do too, then this product is for you.
Our Glitter Stemless Stainless Steel Wine Tumblers are an exciting addition to the site. Not only are they shatterproof - so perfect for parties, camping and travelling, but they are double insulated so they will keep your wine nice and cool for up to 10hrs. Of course you don't have to use them just for wine, but whatever beverage you choose. You can also fill them with a hot beverage during the wintertime and it will keep warm for up to 4hrs. Each cup also comes with a lid, not 100% spill proof however if you're tumbler does happen to topple over the lid will slow down any wine that tries to escape.
Wining and whining my way through life.
