It's November 30 and if you have young children then you know what that means? It's time to pull The Elf on the Shelf back out in hopes to entice your children to behave in the final weeks before Christmas. So as you may have guessed, our elf's name is Scout. We pinched the name from the book that accompanied him, I think? I bought Scout two years ago for Tiny Whiny #1's birthday and then last year we bought him a pet reindeer so he had someone to get up to mischief with. For the life of me I cannot remember what we named the reindeer - hopefully the kids remember or we may just be renaming him this year. So what do Scout and co get up to each night?
To be honest, not very much. Yes, I'm that parent. My kids wake up each morning in December bursting with excitement to find out what shenanigans Scout and his reindeer got up to the previous night. I hear them scurrying around the house looking for them and think 'Oh shit! I forgot to move them......again'. Yep, parent of the year right here. I think last year I moved them about 4 or 5 times. Shameful, right? I'm thinking that this year I will have to set an alarm on my phone each night to remind me so I don't see their excitement turn into disappointment when they see their elf sitting in the same spot as the day before. I really do struggle to come up with 24 different ideas for elf mischief. I'll be relying on Pintrest and Google for some inspiration this time round. It's likely that he'll just be moved from branch to branch on our Christmas tree. As long as Scout steers clear of my wine cabinet, we're all good.
Do you have an Elf on the Shelf? What did you name him/her? What shenanigans do they get up to?
Wining and whining my way through life.
