Believe it or not our family actually do engage in some alcohol-free traditions during the festive season. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of wines that are consumed once the Christmas decorations come out, mostly by me as hubby doesn't drink wine, or even alcohol for that matter, and obviously the Tiny Whinies are a little young for the adult version of grape juice so we have to have a few family friendly traditions that we can all be involved in. Tiny Whiny #1's birthday is in the first week of December so one of the traditions is that we always put the tree up and decorate it together on her birthday …… awww x
Another is our yearly Christmas card photo shoot. Yeah I know I made that sound fancy but it's basically just me sticking some Santa hats on the kiddies, snapping a few pics and praying that they are worthy of being printed on a card that I can send to family and friends.
Just above you'll see one of the snaps from last year. I was pretty happy with it. After bribing the kids with candy canes I got some genuine smiles and both of them looking at the camera at the same time so that's a win in my books. This year, well that's another story......
This year they hate each other. Would not even be in the same photo together. I had to take individual photos this year or it wasn't happening at all. That kinda worked out though as I may have misplaced the second Santa hat and was too much of a tight ass to buy another. But, to top it off, to get them to cooperate in the first place - you know, sit, smile - a real smile, candy canes wouldn't cut it this year. Nope, the little so-and-so's wanted Robux! Sweet Jesus, I'm scared for next year, I just know one of them probably won't do it for anything less than a unicorn.
Here are the snaps I managed to get this year. What are your Christmas traditions? Pretty please let me know in the comments below, I'm in need of some inspiration for some new ones as I'm not sure if our Xmas card shoot tradition will survive another year!
Wining and whining my way through life.
